A total solar eclipse in the United States can be observed... from above.

by Milena Sarukhanyan on Feb. 22, 2024, 2:34 p.m.

The last solar eclipse of the twentieth anniversary in North America is scheduled for April 8, 2024. Fans of unusual spectacles will have the opportunity to see the splendor of the sun's disk in the shadow from a height of 9,000 meters. Solar eclipses are rare in America; the previous one occurred in August 2017. Last October, a ring of fire could be seen in some states. In a few weeks, on April 8, 2024, Americans will be able to enjoy a unique phenomenon when the Moon completely covers the Sun. The total solar eclipse will be visible from Texas to Maine, and parts of the rest of the United States, Puerto Rico, and parts of Alaska and Hawaii. According to previous eclipses, one in three Americans plans to watch the sun disappear.

“The April 8 eclipse is the last totality we'll see over North America until 2044.” This event will last more than twice as long as what happened in 2017, and its trajectory will be nearly twice as wide

See this breathtaking spectacle above the clouds - this service is offered by Delta Airlines. For those wishing to enjoy a view of the total solar eclipse, the airline is launching a special flight from Austin to Detroit on April 8, 2024. This flight on a plane with large windows, especially for umbraphiles, is timed and routed so that they can spend as much time as possible directly in the path of the natural phenomenon.

"During a total eclipse, when the solar disk is completely hidden behind the moon, it can be observed with the naked eye. But you should never look at a partial solar eclipse without appropriate protection. This can lead to serious vision damage or blindness," warns Space.com.

And those who are not planning flights can watch the eclipse online on a special NASA YouTube channel.
