News - UN Secretary-General welcomes Raisi's proposal for Iranian Armed Forces to act as peacekeepers

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's proposal for Iran's armed forces to participate in peacekeeping operations worldwide. The proposal was presented by President Raisi during his visit to New York for the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. Prodessor Mohammad Jamshidi, Deputy Chief of Staff for Political Affairs to Iran President, announced this development on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). According to him, in meeting with Guterres, President Raisi made two proposals that were welcomed. The first proposal, as described by Jamshidi, involves utilizing the potential and capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic for peacekeeping missions. The second proposal involves using the capacity of Iranian diplomats and experts in UN positions. According to Iranian media, having met with Guterres on Monday, the Iranian President expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to cooperate with the UN in its efforts aimed at strengthening world peace and preventing the oppression of peoples.
