In what could only be described as a scene straight out of an action movie, a car crash in Laughlin, Nevada, led to dramatic airborne antics caught on home surveillance video. On December 15, 2023, a driver reportedly speeding lost control and crashed through a backyard wall, sending the car soaring through the air before it landed, ejecting the driver into a residential swimming pool. Law enforcement reports indicate the driver did not manage to halt the car in time, culminating in a collision that transformed into an airborne escapade. The footage captured the white vehicle spiraling through the night sky, clipping the roof of a pool house, and finally ending up precariously at the pool's edge. Homeowner Cletis Reed, who had plans for a soak in his hot tub that night, was alerted by what he described as a sound akin to a freight train's approach. The scene he encountered was one of destruction, with debris littered across his once pristine backyard and a woman floundering in his pool. Reed noted how narrowly he escaped being caught in the crash, as he had been mere moments away from unwinding near the wall that was obliterated during the impact. Despite the chaos, the driver survived, aided by Reed and others who quickly pulled her from the water. Though conscious, she appeared disoriented from the ordeal. With her vehicle wedged in an awkward position, a crane was required to haul it out of the backyard. Reed, who had poured his retirement savings into creating a backyard haven complete with a resort-style pool, now faces nearly $300,000 in repair costs. Motor oil from the crash contaminated the 25,000-gallon pool, possibly necessitating a full drainage and cleaning. Despite the destruction, Reed reflected on the incident with gratitude, acknowledging the fortunate timing that kept him out of harm's way. The driver was transported to a hospital across the state border in Arizona, as further investigations by local authorities continue.
