FAYETTEVILLE -- In a bid to enhance its Animal Services, the City of Fayetteville is actively seeking residents' input on developing a new or improved facility. The city is turning to its populace through a survey hosted on Speak Up Fayetteville, accessible at speakup.fayetteville-ar.gov. The existing Animal Services facility, which is over half a century old, has been deemed insufficient for long-term city aims, as noted in a recent city announcement. Residents are encouraged to weigh in on various aspects crucial to the new facility's planning process, including issues of accessibility, neighborhood impact, environmental considerations, and general community cohesion. Future community engagement will also include in-person meetings, providing another venue for residents to share their thoughts. Feedback is particularly sought in prioritizing services such as adoption and foster support, medical and behavioral care options, family-pet retention programs, as well as provisions for emergency and overflow capacities. 'The City of Fayetteville is devoted to resolving the inadequacies of our current facility,' stated Mayor Molly Rawn. 'The approach we take, touching on programmatic details, design, scale, and the overall impact on our community, remains open for discussion.' The online survey remains open until the end of January, as announced, with specific dates for community meetings yet to be unveiled.
