YEREVAN, December 22 – A new era of energy infrastructure is on the horizon for Yerevan as officials announce the construction of a state-of-the-art gas distribution station slated for completion in 2026. This ambitious project aims to enhance the city's energy network significantly, providing a robust supply to numerous districts and neighborhoods. Announced by Kamo Areyan, the adviser to the mayor of Yerevan, the project outlines a comprehensive plan approved in 2025 to revitalize the gas supply system. The plan covers 12 streets across three administrative regions: Nork, Nork Marash, and Erebuni, along with parts of Nubarashen. Areyan shared these details in a recent municipal working session. The ongoing works have reached a milestone with nine streets already completed, extending over 17.1 kilometers. Current developments are underway in the Vardashen area, with future expansion set to encompass the Nork Harberd district. This expansion will feature a distribution network stretching 50 kilometers, inclusive of Khachik Dashtents, Gurgen Maari, and Nubarashen highway. Furthermore, Gazprom Armenia, the company leading the initiative, has unveiled a forward-looking program for 2026. This expansion targets an additional 45 streets spanning eight administrative regions, covering a total of 31 kilometers. However, the financial scope of this expansive project remains undisclosed. The strategic enhancement of Yerevan's gas infrastructure represents a pivotal step towards bolstering the city's sustainability and energy reliability. This project is poised to support economic growth, providing improved energy solutions to a broader spectrum of residents and businesses.
