Within the framework of the Armenia–EU visa liberalization dialogue, the EU assessment mission for implementing the Action Plan is in Armenia, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. “On December 8, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan met with the representatives of the mission. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the EU Delegation, EU institutions, Frontex, and sectoral experts from EU member states. In his remarks, Armen Ghazaryan noted that multilateral discussions with the relevant authorities will enable obtaining additional information, which will contribute to a more complete and deeper understanding of the presented documents. The deputy minister noted that several strategic documents are at the drafting stage. The parties, in the ongoing processes, highlighted the priority of quality, emphasizing that the documents being developed should be comprehensive, viable, and practically applicable, ensuring the effective implementation of reforms. The mission members, highly valuing the constructive partnership with Armenia, stressed the importance of assessing progress in meeting the benchmarks of the first phase relating to the Action Plan's framework of legislation and sectoral policies. It was noted that the European Commission's first report on the Action Plan is planned to be prepared ahead of the European Political Community summit. On the same day, the EU assessment mission members, led by the head of the Migration and Citizenship Service, Nelli Davtyan, met with the department's leadership. Nelli Davtyan noted that the Migration and Citizenship Service is making multi-lateral and consistent efforts toward implementing the Armenia–EU visa liberalization action plan. The head of the Service presented the relevant points of the Action Plan, addressing the sector's regulatory policy, the legal framework, the development of new documents, the introduction of the biometric system, data and legal identity protection, comprehensive border management, the provision of asylum, as well as other components of the migration management chain.
