Aadhaar Card Making Rules Changed: New Aadhaar will not be generated without these documents, check details here

by Lilit Nov. 28, 2025

UIDAI Rules 2025: UIDAI has implemented a major change in the Aadhaar registration requirements. The PAN card will no longer be valid as proof of identity for obtaining or verifying a new Aadhaar card. PAN has been removed from the list of acceptable documents. Birth certificates will become the primary document for obtaining a new Aadhaar card, while bank passbooks will remain valid only as proof of address. UIDAI Rules 2025: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made a major change to the documents required for Aadhaar. The PAN card will no longer be valid for a new Aadhaar card or for any other verification. Consequently, PAN has been removed from the list of identity documents. Previously, a bank passbook and a bank certificate were valid as identification documents. However, UIDAI has updated this as well. Now, a birth certificate will be the primary document for proof of address. According to UIDAI’s new system, Aadhaar will be generated for children under 18 years of age based solely on a birth certificate. Bank passbook valid for proof of residence, not identity UIDAI has also clarified that bank passbooks will no longer be used as proof of identity. However, they will remain valid documents for proving residential address. No additional identification will be required. A new Aadhaar card can be easily generated using a school-issued ID card, a government certificate, and a birth certificate. No need to provide old ID now Updating Aadhaar will now be easier. Previously, it was mandatory to provide an identity card along with the old Aadhaar for updating, but this requirement has been removed in the new system. The update process will now be completed based solely on biometric and demographic details. Birth Certificate Mandatory As per the amendments to the rules, the most mandatory document for obtaining a new Aadhaar will be a birth certificate. Furthermore, the list of identity and address documents for individuals above 18 years of age has also been revised. UIDAI believes this will make the Aadhaar application process transparent and prevent document fraud. Read More: Petrol-Diesel Rate Today: Petrol and diesel prices have increased!
