The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESCS) has filed a civil lawsuit against Haik Demoyan, the former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, in the Yerevan Civil Court of General Jurisdiction. It demands that the information deemed insulting and defamatory be refuted and that 9 million drams be paid in damages. In September 2025, Haik Demoyan posted on his Facebook page, five of which, according to Zhanna Andreasyan and the Ministry, insulted and defamed them. Specifically, Demoyan wrote that the MESCS and personally Zhanna Andreasyan should be held criminally liable for gross negligence. He also wrote that in Andreasyan’s case, as he had promised, preparatory steps are being taken to draft a statement to initiate a criminal case. “The MESCS minister can already rest easy about a canceled concert and the enormous sums wasted from the state budget. Huge funds are also being wasted in the case of textbooks printed in tens of thousands of copies of poor and disgraceful quality. And since there is no monitoring and the so-called system of justice, Zhanna Andreasyan and others will continue to enjoy the ‘sweet’ atmosphere of impunity. I assure you that for Zhanna, Nikol and others what happened at Tsitsernakaberd has not been considered an extraordinary or shocking event, because in their mindset and value system Tsitsernakaberd is a concept of erasing and pushing out that obstructs and hinders their Bolshevik projects to build a ‘new man.’ The resistance to these asinine programs and the lackeys serving them must be firm and uncompromising. Zhanna Andreasyan should leave and face punishment over the numerous corruption cases. There must also be an end to cynicism.” Demoyan wrote on his Facebook page. Demoyan also noted that soon they would announce the process of holding the MESCS minister criminally liable for episodes of introducing substandard textbooks into the education system, desecrating Tsitsernakaberd, supporting corruption, and wasting public funds. He also wrote that two years had passed since the day renovation works began at the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum. According to him, by demolishing one of the museum’s wing buildings, the MESCS has left the great Armenian’s museum in this state, and this deplorable condition does not bother Zhanna Andreasyan, who at every press conference proudly proclaims how much money the ministry has allocated mainly to projects that are largely meaningless and carry significant corruption risks. “The details of corruption were seen in a documented form in the preliminary budgets of the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex… No matter how Minister Andreasyan speaks of high ideals and noble goals, her methods and thinking do not go beyond that of a Soviet parade organizer or a Komsomol activist. The ministry is busy with nepotism and strict adherence to the law, while real achievements and progress are often recorded when you have the freedom to make nonstandard decisions and find solutions… You continued to remain in cynicism and shamelessness, like your leader and your fellow travelers,” Demoyan wrote on his Facebook page. Zhanna Andreasyan and the ministry he leads demand that Haik Demoyan retract from his Facebook page the above-mentioned and similar information, stating that it does not correspond to reality. They also demand that Haik Demoyan pay 3 million drams in material compensation to Zhanna Andreasyan for the insulting statements, as well as 6 million drams in damages in favor of Zhanna Andreasyan and the MESCS for defamation. The lawsuit was filed yesterday, November 21, 2025, and there is no decision to admit it for proceedings yet. In the photograph: Zhanna Andreasyan and Haik Demoyan.
