

Yerevan, November 20 / ARKA /. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan spoke by telephone with his Syrian counterpart Assad al-Shaybani about the development of bilateral relations. The ministers agreed to intensify political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including through mutual visits, according to the press service of the Armenian MFA. Mirzoyan stressed that the traditionally friendly relations between Armenia and Syria, as well as between the two peoples, provide a solid basis for developing cooperation. The interlocutors identified economic, investment and humanitarian programs as areas with development potential. In this context, Mirzoyan noted Armenia's readiness to continue supporting humanitarian demining activities. Mirzoyan and al-Shaybani also discussed regional developments. The Syrian foreign minister congratulated his Armenian colleague on the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a result of the agreements reached in Washington on August 8. The ministers exchanged views on measures being taken to further strengthen peace.
