2025-11-19 20:49:00 The handover process for the first ten houses of a newly built neighborhood for Artsakh Armenians has begun in the Svarants settlement of the Tatev community in Syunik. This marks the start of the handover process for the first ten houses in the neighborhood built for Artsakh Armenians under the 'Let’s Go to Svarants' program, as reported by the Tufenkian Foundation. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Tufenkian Foundation, representatives of the Syunik regional administration, international and Armenian partner organizations, representatives of the Tatev community administration, and residents of Svarants. During the event, Andranik Gasparyan, trustee of the Tufenkian Foundation, emphasized that in its 25-year activity the foundation has consistently placed at the center of its attention those communities and vulnerable groups that need the most support and care. 'This newly built neighborhood is one of the key components of our program for resettlement in Syunik and one of the few initiatives aimed at the united resettlement of Artsakh Armenians. Our mission is not limited to constructing the neighborhood; we are making long-term investments to improve socio-economic conditions and infrastructure, bringing positive changes to the community,' Gasparyan said. As part of the event, a tour of the newly built neighborhood was organized for guests, presenting houses built with modern technologies, livestock barns, and other socio-economic initiatives being implemented in the settlement. According to Grigor Petean, executive director of the Tufenkian Foundation, the new neighborhood promises a new life for the Artsakh displaced families. 'These families are rebuilding their lives in Armenia today. In collaboration with partner organizations, including international development agencies, the Government of Armenia, the Syunik regional administration, and local self-governance bodies, we are working to create real opportunities for these families and develop our communities,' Petean said. Haik Harutyunyan, deputy governor of Syunik, emphasized the importance of the foundation's Syunik resettlement program and reaffirmed the regional administration's commitment to supporting ongoing and future projects in the Tatev community. Construction of the new Svarants neighborhood began in mid-2025, using advanced construction technologies designed for the homes for Artsakh families. 'Let’s Go to Svarants' is a key component of the Tufenkian Foundation's long-term development and rural settlement resettlement program in Syunik. The program aims to contribute to the region's socio-economic development and modernization of infrastructure in cooperation with the Government of Armenia, local self-government bodies, international development agencies, and civil society organizations.
