The 2025 World Weightlifting Championships ended with our athlete's victory in the superheavyweight division. In the town of Forde, Norway, Lalayan posted a total of 461 kg. The silver medal went to Gor Minasyan, representing Bahrain. In the snatch, Lalayan started at 206 kg and lifted it confidently. He succeeded in lifting 211 kg on his second attempt, earning the small gold medal. In the clean and jerk, the world and European champion lifted 245 kg on his first attempt, then 250 kg on his second. On his third attempt, Lalayan tried to set a world record, but could not lift 261 kg. The gold in this lift also went to our athlete. With a total of 461 kg, Lalayan was crowned a two-time world champion. In this weight class, the competition was between two Armenian lifters. The Armenian weightlifter Gor Minasyan, representing Bahrain, became world runner-up for the third time in his career. Minasyan started the snatch unsuccessfully, failing to hold the 205 kg bar overhead. He managed to fix this weight on his second attempt. For the third attempt at 210 kg, Gor Minasyan could not snatch it, earning the event's small silver medal. Minasyan started the clean and jerk at 242 kg and lifted it successfully. He could not press 251 kg, and on the third attempt he withdrew, since he had already secured three silver medals. In the total, Gor Minasyan registered 447 kg. Our team participated in this championship with seven weightlifters. This was our first and only major medal.
