Taylor Swift has confirmed that orange is the color of her Life of a Showgirl era. Queen of Easter eggs, Swift seems to have dropped not one but two secrets inside her latest batch of jaw-dropping Life of a Showgirl promotional photos. In the image, the singer looks back as she briskly exits a hotel room, holding up the skirt of her orange sequin gown. The gown, custom-designed by Gucci, features sheer panels, spaghetti straps, and matching opera-length gloves. In a second image, you can see the quintessential Gucci horsebit detail on the strap as well as the deep V neckline. The slight ombre coloring on both the liquid gown and coordinating gloves adds dimension and intrigue. Swift famously chooses a signature color to represent each of her musical eras. Speak Now was purple, Lover was pink, and Red was, of course, its namesake hue. Swift, who spent more than a year and a half on her most recent Eras tour, integrated 12 orange outfits into the lineup over the duration. It was those outfits and those outfits only that her team shared on Instagram just hours before The Life of a Showgirl album was announced. Her new website and album vinyls also feature the fruity hue. So, orange it is! As for Gucci ... It was speculated that her chosen Gucci looks over the past year have been subtle hints themselves. When the lyrics to the Grammy winner's song Cancelled! were leaked online, the line Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like them cloaked in Gucci and in scandal seemed to bring the singer's trail of Gucci breadcrumbs to an exciting head. This epic orange sequin look, paired with a Gucci mini skirt she wore on this morning's radio appearance on Hits Radio Breakfast, makes it official: we’ve reached peak showgirl status.
