All the Songs Taylor Swift Wrote About Travis Kelce on "The Life of a Showgirl" (Including This Raunchy Track!)

The Life of a Showgirl is largely a love letter to Taylor Swift's future husband, Travis Kelce. The Grammy winner's 12th studio album, which she announced on Aug. 12, was officially released on Oct. 3 at midnight. Ahead of its release, Swift shared that it is the record she'd been wanting to make for a very long time. While discussing the album on Kelce's podcast New Heights, Swift explained that she wrote it while on her Eras Tour and that it comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life. It's no secret that the Grammy winner has drawn inspiration from her relationship history as she's channeled her life experiences into her songwriting – and The Life of a Showgirl puts her romance with Kelce on full display. So, which songs on The Life of a Showgirl are about Travis Kelce? Here are all of the songs seemingly about the football star on Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. The Fate of Ophelia The album opens with The Fate of Ophelia, which finds Swift singing about someone – likely Kelce – saving her from Ophelia's tragic (and fatal) ending in William Shakespeare's Hamlet. During an appearance on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast on the day of the album's release, Swift explained that the hook is someone comes into your life and rescues you from the fate of being driven mad by love, given Ophelia died after a mental breakdown after her lover, Prince Hamlet, killed her father, Polonius. The opening track begins with Swift seemingly referencing her iconic Fourth of July 2023 Instagram photo, when she posed with your local neighborhood independent girlies, otherwise known as Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters and more. Swore my loyalty to me, myself and I / Right before you lit my sky up, she sings on the track. Elsewhere in the song, she says Keep it 100, a phrase that Kelce has often used, and later sings, Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes. She also confirmed during an Oct. 3 appearance on BBC 1 that the 100 is a play on numerology, as Swift and Kelce's favorite numbers – 87 and 13 – add up to equal 100. No longer drowning and deceived / All because you came for me, she continues in the bridge, before ending the song singing, You saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia. Opalite The title of Track 3, Opalite, seems to be a reference to Kelce in itself, as it nods to the football player's October birthstone. In the song, Swift sings about previously being sleepless in the onyx night. But now the sky is opalite / Oh my lord, never met no one like you before, she sings. In the Track by Track version of the album on Amazon Music, she called Opalite, which she said was one of her favorite songs on the album, an expression of happiness. The song itself is about choosing happiness, and getting through rough times, adversity, and really choosing your own joy and your own sort of path to joy, she said. It didn't just happen accidentally to you. Eldest Daughter In the coveted Track 5, Eldest Daughter, Swift sings about learning to accept the type of love she thought she'd never find in what is notably the biggest ballad of the album. When you found me I said I was busy / That was a lie, she sings. When I said I don’t believe in marriage that was a lie / Every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter. She continues, Every youngest child felt they were raised up in the wild / But now you’re home. Notably, Swift is an elder daughter, while Kelce is a younger child. In the Track by Track version of the album, the singer confirmed Eldest Daughter is a love song. Everyone has things that matter to them, and people that matter to them, she said. This song really kind of gets to the heart of, when someone gets close enough to you to earn your trust, that's when you can admit to them that you actually really do care about some things. Wi$h Li$t Track 8, Wi$h Li$t, is another sweet love song, as Swift is seemingly singing about being willing to trade in her riches for a simple life with Kelce. I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you / We tell the world to leave us the f--- alone … and they do / Wow / Got me dreamin’ ’bout a driveway with a basketball hoop / Boss up, settle down, got a wishlist / I just want you, she sings. Swift continues that she made wishes on all the stores for God to bring her a best friend / Who I think is hot. I thought I had it right once, twice, but I did not / You caught me off my guard / I hope I get what I want / ’Cause I know what I want, she continues. Track 9, Wood, is a sexy, double-entendre-filled song in which Swift appears to reflect on finding a life partner in Kelce after being unlucky in love. Girls I don’t need to catch the bouquet, mm / To know a hard rock is on the way / And baby, I’ll admit I’ve been a little superstitious / The curse on me was broken by your magic wand / Seems to me that you and me, we make our own luck, she sings. She continues by directly referencing Kelce's podcast: New Heights (New Heights) of manhood (Manhood) / I ain't gotta knock on wood. Swift ends the track with some of her raunchiest lines yet, singing, Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / His love was the key to open my thighs. In the Track by Track version of the album, the singer called Wood a very, very sentimental love song. Track 11, Honey, opens up with Swift singing, You can call me honey if you want because I'm the one you want. Throughout the track, she sings about people calling her sweetheart in a passive aggressive way, and others calling her honey in a way that would make her cry the whole way home. But when a certain someone uses the terms of endearment, they give it a different meaning, Swift sings. But you touch my face / Redefine all of those blues / When you say honey, she sings. During her appearance on New Heights, Kelce revealed that sweetie is one of his pet names for Swift.
