Any proposal to make changes in Iran's nuclear doctrine contradicts the interests of the Islamic Republic and only increases external pressure on the country. Abolfazl Zohrevand, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian parliament, expressed this opinion in an interview with ILNA news agency. "If changes are made in the nuclear doctrine [of Iran], it will happen in the [country’s] Supreme National Security Council at the highest level. Not even in the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee [of the parliament], but at the highest level. The Supreme Leader [Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] has already announced Iran's firm position [on the matter]. I don't know what the purpose is of those who do this, but they are either ignorant or they want to put more pressure on Iran," said Zohrevand, in response to the question about making changes in the nuclear doctrine of Iran. The Iranian MP added that those who make such proposals "do not take [Iran’s] national interests into account." In his opinion, the foreign countries monitoring the situation in Iran can use such views of Iranian officials for propaganda purposes—although they know that issues of this nature are resolved at the highest level.
