Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paruyr Hovhannisyan confirms that Tigran Balayan, Armenia's Ambassador to Belgium, had received threats from his Azerbaijani counterpart. "Yes. There were insults and threats during the reception, about which we have informed the Belgian side, as well as the EU, in a statement," said Hovhannisyan while speaking with reporters at the National Assembly Tuesday. He added that an investigation was underway in this regard. "There is no response yet," emphasized the Armenian official. Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that Politico had written that Tigran Balayan was “verbally attacked and intimidated” by Azerbaijani Ambassador Vaqif Sadiqov, who “voiced explicit threats against his life."
