No war can have legitimate grounds, war itself is illegal. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, stated this speaking with reporters at the NA Tuesday—and referring to opposition MP Gegham Manukyan's statement that Simonyan had said in an interview that Azerbaijan had legitimate grounds for attacking Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and those grounds were the four resolutions of the United Nations. "After the Second World War, no war can be legitimate. It's absurd. No one can say that; can't legitimize [it]. Even the Russian-Ukrainian war is called a ‘special military operation.’ What I said is that Azerbaijan carried out its actions on its territory based on internationally recognized principles. What I said was the following that if this is happening in its legitimate internationally recognized territory, then the [Azerbaijani military] aggression towards Armenia cannot be legitimate; that's what I said," Simonyan stated.
