News - Return of Azerbaijanis not included in peace treaty talks, Armenia MFA official states

The Armenian government is always ready and sincerely wants relations with its neighbors to be normalized; unfortunately, this does not depend only on Armenia. Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vahan Kostanyan told this to reporters Thursday. "But this does not mean that at any point we [i.e. Armenia] should interrupt or suspend the negotiations. We continue to be positively engaged in that process," added Kostanyan. When asked if there are red lines for Armenia—for example, an amendment to its constitution at the request of Azerbaijan, or the issue of the return of Azerbaijani refugees—which Armenia will not cross in any way, Kostanyan assured that the issue of the return of 300,000 Azerbaijanis is not included in the talks on the peace treaty. "You all see the statements being made by Azerbaijan—and from various platforms. We respond to them publicly or in other formats as needed. I believe that we should not use Azerbaijan's fictitious theories to advance," said Kostanyan.
