News - Iranian motorcyclists ride to Yerevan as sign of peace

Six Iranian motorcyclists have arrived from Kerman, Iran to Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, as a sign of peace. On August 4, the tourism and automobile center of Kerman Province of Iran organized a friendly visit to Armenia—and in the form of a motorcycle rally. Taking into account the agreement signed in September 2022 to declare Iran's Kerman and Armenia's Armavir cities as sister cities, this program aims to promote peace and present the tourist attractions of both countries. The aforesaid motorcycle rally group arrived at the Iranian Embassy in Armenia Friday at 1:15pm. One of these Iranian motorcyclists told reporters that the travel in Armenia was very beautiful, but their only problem was the quality of the country’s roads. "We reached Yerevan in 4-5 days. During this time we had a stop in Syunik Province, the people received us well, we received a warm welcome," he added, in particular. According to Mehdi Sobhani, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, these motorcyclists traveled 2,300 kilometers to convey the message of friendship, brotherhood, and peace to the two nations. "The circumstance of being called ‘sister cities’ is a pretext and a reason, the only purpose is to convey the message of friendship and peace. If it is possible to get from Tehran to Yerevan by motorcycle, it means that we are very close to each other. Motorcycles can only be traveled by land, but it is not possible to go beyond the seas,” said the Iranian diplomat.
