Russia MFA: ‘Eurasia’ NGO board member Mikael Badalyan's entry ban to Moldova has fictitious political motives

by Lilit July 31, 2024

The ban on "Eurasia" NGO board member Mikayel Badalyan's entry to Moldova has fictitious political motives. Andrey Nastasin, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at the weekly press briefing Wednesday. Nastasin noted that Russia follows with great interest the large-scale events being held under the auspices of the "Eurasia" autonomous non-commercial organization. According to Nastasin, it is appreciated that youth from a wide range of Eurasian countries participate in the aforementioned events. In his conviction, such initiatives with social charge and unifying potential can only be welcomed. "Except for fictitious political motives, Eurasia activists—including Mikayel Badalyan, a member of the board of this organization—were banned from entering Moldova for hardly any other reason. The authorities of Chisinau submissively and thoughtlessly follow the policies of Washington and Brussels, which are interested in destroying existing ties in the Eurasian region," Nastasin said. As per the Russian MFA representative, such attempts to politicize the initiatives aimed at the development of contacts between people are only regrettable. "We are convinced that with such actions it is impossible to curb the efforts of not indifferent activists to strengthen friendship between the youth of Eurasian countries," Andrey Nastasin stressed.
