News - Hungary again blocks EU European Peace Facility funding which helps Ukraine with weapons

The foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) countries, at the meeting held in Brussels on Monday, once again failed to reach an agreement on the unblocking of the funds of the EU European Peace Facility (EPF), which finances the delivery of arms to Ukraine. This was confirmed by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell during a press conference, reports European Pravda. According to Borrell, at the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the ministers discussed the need to strengthen support to Ukraine, especially considering the recent Russian attacks on hospitals. Among other matters, the discussion reflected also on the unblocking of the EPF funds which will cover the costs of EU countries for military aid to Ukraine. “Most Member States insisted on the need to lift the blockage for this payment, pending for months more than a year. At the same time, they stressed the importance to move on regarding the decision to implement the new Ukraine Assistance Fund, which has been blocked by one member state, for more than one year,” Borrell said . “Member States insisted that this was something unacceptable, unbearable—but unhappily the situation of blockage remains,” he added.
