News - Macron says there is no question of NATO's direct involvement in the Ukraine conflict

NATO does not plan to participate directly in the Ukrainian conflict but will support Kyiv because it does not want to allow Russia to win. French President Emmanuel Macron stated at a press conference on the margins of the NATO summit in Washington. "Although there is no question of direct involvement of the Alliance in the conflict in Ukraine, it is very important that the allies continue to provide effective support. Russia must not win the war, not only is the future of Ukraine at stake, but also the peace and security of everyone on the continent," he said. Macron expressed his belief that France and allies are providing support to Kyiv "that continues to make a difference" and assured that they would do so for as long as necessary. In addition to the agreements adopted at the current summit to create a structure to coordinate military assistance and training for soldiers and commitments for further assistance, he separately mentioned clear language regarding Ukraine's membership in NATO, namely its "irreversible Euro-Atlantic anchoring."
