News - Far-right won first round of France parliamentary elections, interior ministry says

The far right National Rally (RN) party and its allied forces won the first round of the French parliamentary elections, collecting 33.4 percent of votes, according to the Ministry of the Interior, reports Le Parisien daily. The left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition is in second place, with 27.98 percent of votes, and President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble alliance is third, with 20.76 percent. The fourth are the Republicans, with 6.56 percent, and the other political forces have garnered 3.67 percent. According to the results of the first round of parliamentary elections, 39 MPs were elected from the RN, 32 from the NFP, two from Macron's coalition, one from the Republicans, and two from the other political forces. The decisive voting of the second round will be held on July 7.
