News - Newspaper: Parliament holds hearing on matter of Armenia joining EU

Iravunk daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: A hearing was held in the NA [(National Assembly)], with the participation of anti-Russian forces, where their proposal to hold a referendum on the RA membership application to the EU was discussed. And NA President Alen Simonyan called that proposal interesting and in demand. "It is clear that even if the referendum is held and the majority of [Armenian] citizens are in favor of [Armenia] becoming a member of the EU, it’s all the same; Armenia will never end up there. But, with that, Armenia will legitimize the process of losing its independent statehood," Hayk Ayvazyan, head of the Luys Center, emphasized, referring to the abovementioned.
