News - Deputy Secretary of State to Nikol Pashinyan: US ready to strengthen cooperation with Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Richard Verma, US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, the PM’s office informs. The premier underscored the consistent development of Armenia-US strategic dialogue and the deepening of multi-sectoral cooperation. Pashinyan noted that Verma's current visit to Armenia will contribute to agenda matters of bilateral relations, programs aimed at strengthening democracy and economic empowerment in Armenia, as well as expanding relations at the local self-government level. In turn, Richard Verma emphasized the US’ readiness to strengthen cooperation with Armenia in various directions, including between local bodies and communities, as well as in economy, education, and some other domains. At the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the Armenia-EU-US high-level meeting held in Brussels on April 5. Views were exchanged also on the discussions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project, and the implementation of the housing provision program—recently approved by the Armenian government—for forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. PM Pashinyan underscored the need for assistance by international partners regarding the last matter.
