News - Premier: What opposition said means giving any foreign country active lever to change government in Armenia

All grounds for resignation of the government are described in the constitution. It is written in which case the government changes in the country, and those grounds lack what the opposition is trying to justify. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his address during the debates on the Armenian government's 2023 state budget performance, in the National Assembly Thursday—and citing the country's constitution. "There is no such case described in the constitution. And this is logical because if, for example, the improvement of Armenia-Belarus relations is written in the government's program, it means that if we follow the logic of the opposition, Belarus can decide the fate of the Armenian government. For example, say that ‘the government of Armenia is not leaving, I should not improve the relations, but on the contrary, I should worsen the relations with Armenia and thereby achieve a change of the government,"’ Pashinyan said. According to the Armenian PM, the interpretation made by the opposition means undermining the sovereignty, independence, and stability of Armenia. It means giving a foreign country an active 100% leverage to change the government in Armenia whenever it wants. "Is this their logic? I'm not surprised because their logic is anti-state, anti-sovereign, anti-democratic," said the premier, emphasizing that the Armenian government acted in the same principled manner in the matter of self-determination and status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
