Russia expects that the leadership of Armenia has no disastrous plans to anger the peoples of both countries, stated the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with TASS, and within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia. "I hope that doesn't happen. I sincerely hope that no one in the leadership of Armenia has such an objective and task because, in my opinion, it would be disastrous only for Armenia," said Zakharova, answering the question whether the Armenian authorities can somehow turn the peoples of the two countries against each other. Also, Russia has always been able to be happy with Armenia's achievements and accept its choice, even when it did not agree with any of Armenia’s decisions, Zakharova emphasized. "But it [i.e. Russia] accepted because it respected the sovereign choice of that country," she added. The official representative of Russian MFA said, however, that she is not sure that "refusing such attitude towards Armenia will benefit both this country and the people." This is how people in our country think, this is how they feel, they treat this country, this people with love," Zakharova explained. "And to reject everything like this... I sincerely hope that no one in the leadership of Armenia has such plans," she concluded.
