Armenia authorities, who paid $6M for Snoop Dogg concert, still don’t know when this postponed event will be held

by Lilit March 14, 2024

At this time, there is nothing new regarding my last message. I had noted that new concert dates are being discussed. At the moment, I have nothing new to say in that sense. Zhanna Andreasyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, stated this during a briefing with reporters after the Armenian government’s Cabinet meeting Thursday—and addressing the question of what news there is about renowned American rapper Snoop Dogg's postponed concert in Yerevan. And as for the song—in which, according to many people, Armenian culture is mocked and cultures of various nations are mixed—of Ladaniva group that will represent Armenia at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Andreasyan responded: "I am not familiar with the [music] video, I consider it normal that there can be different opinions about any product. I haven't watched [it] myself, so I can't give any opinion." Snoop Dogg's concert in Yerevan was supposed to take place in September 2023, but it was put off after the tragic events in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Armenian authorities have earmarked $6 million for this concert. In December, Minister Andreasyan had announced that the talks regarding the timeframe of this concert were underway. "Preliminarily it is being discussed that it could be in May-June [2024], but they will announce the final date after the negotiations are over," she had said.
